There will be 3 Preliminary Era Rounds — Best of the 50’s, Best of the 60’s, and Best of the 70’s. The finalists from each Preliminary Era Round will move into the “Finals” round where they will battle it out for the title of “Elvis Rocks Mesquite 2018 Champion”!

All 4 shows must be purchased at the same time for package prices.  Packages can only be purchased any time before 1st Preliminary on Friday, Jun 16 before 2:30pm

Age Restrictions:  All Ages above 3 years old must have a ticket.  Anyone under age 3 must sit in lap of parent, free admission. No strollers or baby carriers permitted.

Registration will begin on Feb 22, 2018

All contestants will receive 3 complimentary hotel nights for June 21, 22 and 23, 2018 at the CasaBlanca Resort & Casino. If you will be staying at the hotel during the contest, please fill out on the registration form your arrival and departure dates for your hotel rooms.

FOR CONTESTANTS ONLY: Stay extra night(s) around contest June 20th and/or 24th $48.00 + tax + resort fee, Pick your extra days when you Register.

 

Transportation

Mesquite is located 75 miles north of Las Vegas. The closest airport for Mesquite is McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, NV. Contestants must provide or arrange for their own transportation to/from Mesquite. There is an airport shuttle service you can sign up for here: www.stgeorgeexpress.com, (435-652-1100, they do offer very reasonable rates to ride the shuttle to/from McCarren/CasaBlanca.

2018 Elvis Rocks Mesquite – Tribute Contest
Official Rules and Guidelines

GENERAL

  1. Elvis Rocks Mesquite and Mesquite Gaming LLC are not responsible for any expenses of contestants at any time during “Elvis Rocks Mesquite”, including any expenses with respect to travel or meals to and from Mesquite, NV.
  2. Employees or relatives of employees of Mesquite Gaming LLC are not eligible to compete in Elvis Rocks Mesquite.
  3. Any contestant found violating the rights of Elvis Rocks Mesquite through misuse or infringement of Elvis Rocks Mesquite proprietary rights, including trademarks, rights of publicity, or copyrights will be disqualified.
  4. Participation in Elvis Rocks Mesquite does not grant any rights to use the name, image or likeness of Elvis Presley other than as embodied in the contestant’s performance or the name Elvis Rocks Mesquite.
  5. Profanity and/or vulgarity on stage or while participating in official contest events will not be tolerated and any contestant violating this rule will be immediately disqualified.
  6. Any contestant found to be using a controlled substance will be immediately disqualified.
  7. Any contestants acting inappropriately on stage during any round of the contest or while participating in official contest events will be disqualified with no refunds of entry fees, including but not limited to, portraying Elvis in a derogatory manner, using inappropriate language, or acting vulgar.
  8. All contestants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older as of June 16, 2018.
  9. All contestants grant Mesquite Gaming LLC the right to use their name, image, likeness, biography, and any photographs or audio visual footage of their participation in Elvis Rocks Mesquite, including their performance, presence at meet ‘n’ greet and/or interviews, without the payment or any compensation, in connection with the advertising and promotion of the Elvis Rocks Mesquite.
  10. All contestants grant Mesquite Gaming LLC the irrevocable right to record their participation in Elvis Rocks Mesquite, including their performance, presence at, and/or interview and to use, adapt, reproduce, distribute, broadcast, and exhibit their performance in perpetuity in any and all media, manners and platforms, without the payment of compensation.
  11. Contestants will perform to tracks for Era Preliminary rounds. Contestants will provide their own tracks.   A live band will be on stage to support the Era shows during the preliminary rounds (i.e. walk on/off music, opening, breaks and while scoring is finalized).  Contestants must perform with the live band that Mesquite Gaming LLC selects for Elvis Rocks Mesquite for the Finals; contestants cannot provide own band, background music, or backup singers for the Finals. Contestants must inform us if they have a working business relationship with the backing band.  Contestants will be notified of band members 30 days prior to contest, although band members are subject to change.  Sheet music for 2 songs for the Finals must be provided by contestants to us by June 1, 2018.  Additional detailed instructions on tracks and sheet music submissions by the contestants will be sent to each contestant after registration is received.
  12. If Contestant is late or misses scheduled rehearsal and/or mandatory meetings, then they forfeit the opportunity to rehearse and may be disqualified from Elvis Rocks Mesquite.
  13. For all preliminary rounds and Finals, Each contestant will sing 2 songs that will not exceed 6 minutes total for both songs for 50s and 60s Eras. 70’s Era songs cannot exceed 9 minutes total for both songs.  Finals songs cannot exceed 6 minutes for both songs.
  14. Winner of the previous year’s Elvis Rocks Mesquite is prohibited from participating as a contestant for the immediate next year. They may compete again the 2nd year following their winning year.

Preliminary Era Rounds:
50’s Era, 60’s Era, 70’s Era

  1. Contestants of the Preliminary Era rounds must submit their song list and performance agreement to Mesquite Gaming LLC. Each contestant must submit a list of song choices, in the order of preference, for the Preliminary Era Rounds and Final Round.  Songs will be approved in order of receipt of registration and registration fees.  A random drawing will be done for performance order.  Additional detailed instructions on tracks and sheet music submissions by the contestants will be sent to each contestant after registration is received
  2. All songs performed must be songs Elvis sang. No custom or original songs are allowed. No medleys are allowed. Music choice and costume must reflect the Era represented.
  3. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and 4th place winners of each Era Round will advance to the Finals.
  4. If a winner of a Preliminary Era Round has already won a different preliminary round, then the 5th place winner of the preliminary Era round will advance to the Finals, and so on.
  5. The only props allowed on the stage during the contest are scarves and/or a musical instrument. All other props are prohibited. Due to time constraints and in order to ensure a fair and impartial performance, contestants are not allowed to distribute scarves or other items to, nor allowed to accept items from audience members; doing so will result in disqualification.
  6. Contestants cannot leave the stage area when performing.
  7. Judging for the contest will be done on a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high) on the following categories: Vocals, Appearance, Stage Presence, and Overall Performance. Vocals will count as 40% of score. Appearance, Stage Presence and Overall Performance will each count as 20% of score. The contestant receiving the highest overall total score will be the winner of the preliminary era round, the next highest will be 2nd place, and the next high est after that will be 3rd place, and so on.
  8. In the case of a tie score, the contestant receiving the highest score in the Vocal judging category will be the winner. If the Vocal category is also a tie, the winner will be chosen based on the highest score in the following categories in this order: 1. Overall Performance; 2. Appearance; 3. Stage Presence.
  9. Contestants, representatives of contestants, and relatives of contestants cannot interact with judges prior to or during the preliminary Era Rounds or the Final round of “Elvis Rocks Mesquite”.
  10. Mesquite Gaming LLC reserves the right to remove any Preliminary Era Round winner from Elvis Rocks Mesquite at its discretion.
  11. All rule interpretations are left to the discretion of Mesquite Gaming, LLC and are considered final.

FINAL ROUND

  1. Contestant will provide sheet music/charts of Finals songs selections to us no later than June 1, 2018. Additional detailed instructions on tracks and sheet music submissions by the contestants will be sent to each contestant after registration is received.
  2. If a finalist is unable to compete in the Final Round, the contestant receiving the next highest score during the Preliminary Era Round that the finalist qualified from may take their place in the Final Round.
  3. Only contestants participating in the contest will be allowed backstage. A special badge will be given to each contestant participating in the Final Round to allow access backstage during event. Badges cannot be worn by anyone other than contestant.
  4. The only props allowed on the stage during the contest are scarves and/or a musical instrument. All other props are prohibited. Due to time constraints and in order to ensure a fair and impartial performance, contestants are not allowed to distribute scarves or other items to, nor allowed to accept items from, audience members.
  5. Contestants cannot leave the stage area when performing.
  6. Sales of contestant merchandise (e.g., t‐shirts, cds) or solicitation of any kind will not be permitted before, during or after the competition.
  7. Contestants shall make themselves available for reasonable media interviews and publicity appearances.
  8. Judging for the Final will be done on a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high) on the following categories: Vocals, Appearance, Stage Presence, and Overall Performance. Vocals will count as 40% of score. Appearance, Stage Presence and Overall Performance will each count as 20% of score.
  9. During the Final Round, the contestant receiving the overall highest score will be the overall winner of Elvis Rocks Mesquite. All scores during the Final Round are cumulative.
  10. In the case of tie scores in the Final Round, the contestant receiving the highest score in the Overall Performance judging category will be the winner. If the Overall Performance category is also a tie, the winner will be chosen based on the highest score in the following categories in this order: 1. Vocals; 2. Appearance; 3. Stage Presence.
  11. In the case of a tie score in all categories in the Final Round, the contestants who are tied will each choose one additional song to sing in front of the panel of judges. The contestant receiving the overall highest score after the judging is done on the final song will be the overall winner of Elvis Rocks Mesquite.
  12. Contestants, representatives of contestants, and relatives of contestants cannot interact with judges prior to or during the Final Round of Elvis Rocks Mesquite.
  13. All rule interpretations are left to the discretion of Mesquite Gaming, LLC and are considered final.
