For my event Roger you can always see who tied you. I bring the official board to the party so everyone can see. I know the feeling Doc, haven’t won a skin in 9 years, maybe this year. haha. STMF

  5. Art Pereida says:

Something I have always done on the very first T. I always say “Have a good game Gentlemen/People” to those I am playing with and with that said I have fun the rest of the time.

  6. Roger says:

Doc, Maybe if the skins were announced right after the event and not at the bar later that night you can see who tied you on your birdie holes.

  7. DrDennis Henson (Doc) says:

Give Stan my 20. Collect a skin ,tip Stan ๐Ÿ™‚ or more often, give Stan my 20. Kiss twenty good bye. Thank Stan for another great week! Same for George on Sunday and Monday.Never wanna shoot 68 and not sniff a skin ever again George! (wagging my finger…)(how does that happen?)

  8. Crazy Canucks says:

2 cold pop tarts and a shot of Canadian Rye.

  9. Kerry says:

I start my mornings at the Chuckwagon in the Virgin River. Have a Deuces Breakfast & a couple cups of coffee. May change this year to Main Street in the Eureka, Chicken Fried Steak & eggs there is pretty good and reasonable. Then to the course. Where I find my cart and Veg. Never one to waste a good shot on the range. And like Rick, hope I am paired with guys that are fun to be around. Since I am there to have fun. You all know it is not to win. (Anybody seen my scores?) Wheels Down and 80 MPH in 23 days.

  10. Rick says:

Get to the course early enough to warm up and then hope I m paired with some guys that want to have fun! FUN is what the mesquite amateur is all about!

  11. J-Skins says:

Arrive early shake off last nights foggyness, donate 20.00 start all over.

  12. Jim O says:

Drink heavy the night before..tee it up… look down and see 3 balls and hit the one in the middle.

  13. jim says:

I really have only a first hole superstition. If my first hole is a par 5 and a tumbleweed crosses the fairway I change to a pink ball and hit my driver, if by chance it is a roadrunner I use a yellow ball and hit my lob wedge and for those very rare circumstances where a penguin waddles across in front of me, I pull out my putter and try to hit him.

    Otherwise I JUST WING IT.

  14. Rich C says:

Pick out cigars for the front and back nine. Have fun ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Jeff says:

I know what you mean, Jerry. Played Oasis Palmer the first round one year. Started on hole 1 and went birdie, birdie and then par on the #1 HCP hole. Then the wheels fell off. I think that was immediately followed by an 8. Then a variety of bogeys they call “others” ensued. It’s hard to get off that that train when it starts to wreck. I think I was in first place after 3 holes into the tournament. Finished near the basement after the next 51. It’s a funny game, isn’t it?

  16. Jerry says:

The fear of a birdie or par on the first hole. I seem to always play better after a bogey on the first.

  17. Stan Mahaffey says:

Make sure I tip the bag drop person and the cart girl before the round.

Stand around the registration table offering “Skins Donations” or “Skins Stimulus Package” to get players in the SKINS. Sitting around after the round collecting scores and figuring Skins, passing out the winnings, and listening to the guy who says “I didn’t know there was a Skins Game, I never heard anyone announce it!” and the other guys just shaking their heads!

  18. Tom says:

Get to the course and warm up. If I have a good warm up session, I go find Stan M and give him $20.00 for the skins game that day. If I have a bad warm up session, I wait for Stan to find me and give him $20.00 for the skins game that day. If Stan has not found me and there is about ten minutes left before we tee off, I break down and go find him!

  19. George Salcedo says:

Get to course and hour or so in advance, yell “SKINS GAME” as I get out of car. Set bag up at cart, prepare cart with golf gear, head to range, yell “SKINS GAME” again. Hit 10-20 balls, head to bar, pick up refreshments including bloody mary double, stock cart, yell “SKINS GAME” and mentally prepare(haha). STMF

  20. David DeRango says:

Well if I can make it till Friday I ware black shorts and gray shirt.
I have a set routine when I get ready to play in the Mesquite Amateur or just when I play golf, go to the range first to hit about 20 balls starting with my 9 iron, then a few with a long iron, maybe a far way wood, and a couple with the driver.
Putt for a little to get the feel of the greens, and then get myself a tall bloody mary sit in the cart and light up a cigar.
    My routine!
